1984年，孩寶將Takara的Diaclone及Microman的角色整合成為變形金剛帶到北美，但因為角色的供不應求，於是繼續從其他廠商尋找適合人選，當中包括來自Takatoku出品<特装機兵ドルバック>(即三一無敵)的主角無限真人専用機：萬能吉普Mugen Calibur。據說當時Takatoku已倒閉，所有模具皆被Bandai接收，孩寶實際上是委託笨大生產。與Mugen Calibur一同加入變形金剛大家庭的還有霹靂直升機Oberon Gazzette，改名換姓成為Roadbuster和Whirl，而餘下的雷霆坦克車Bonaparte Tulcas可惜因為造型問題而未被看中。因為錯過了G1動畫的製作期，二人已沒有可插入的篇幅，只好活躍於Marvel漫畫世界。Simon Furman待二子不薄，雙雙編入Wreckers。亦因此，Roadbuster和Whirl成為了核心fans眼中的經典人物，但對於僅看過動畫的變迷而言，就相對邊緣了。直到最近，隨著FP和孩寶的短兵相接，Roadbuster難得成為一時熱話。
在G1之後、FP和孩寶再造Roadbuster之前這漫長的30年間，特別是近年Classic新生大系逐漸成型的時期，孩寶僅僅出過一款基於Cybertron Defence Hot Shot的有名無實改色品以及無故用上Roadbuster顏色主題的Animated Ultra Magnus。另一邊廂，新版Mugen Calibur近年也出過數作，但真正要找到一款能夠配合Classic系比例的，恐怕只有這款CM's Brave合金。
雖然是新生作品，但整個設計僅僅是卅年前舊版套路下的昇級。打的是感情牌，如果你以Classic TF的心態去期待，定會失望。變形鋪排與舊版基本一致，增值了細節和關節，外形也修得更好，但諸如車轆罩這些外掛件，在吉普車形下仍舊沒有無合理的安置，散件一堆。作為駕駛式機械人，無論車型如何天馬行空，駕駛室的細節絕不馬虎。雖然我本意將之視作Roadbuster，但也不妨將隨附的無限真人公仔放進去，別浪費這精緻的安排，而且最精彩的還是基於舊版基礎之餘最大還原戲中真人的駕駛座隨著Calibur變形而下移轉至機械人胸部的過程。結構雖然簡單，但整個關係交待得清晰合理。而且，Calibur的胸甲雖可打開露出駕駛艙，但真人是無法從前面取出，必需重新打開背甲。
這款Mugen Calibur的人形更加還原劇中的修長，與體型日漸橫向發展的Roadbuster南轅北轍。額外加裝的四件車轆罩，先不計較毫無修改照搬30年前舊版設計無法裝於車型，最大掃興地方是四件罩沒有任何卡位無法扣實於機械人的後背兩側和大髀，再加上與手腳互阻，非常易脫。而Calibur標誌性的肩砲卻是裝載於其中，我又無法乾脆將之拋開一邊不理。手指可開合，加上雙手可動幅度大幅提高，除了一些大角度會與背後車轆罩互阻之外，其擺出的大動作為這副木獨的身裁增色不少。相比之下，雙腳就出事了。大概為了平衡方正吉普車和修長機械人兩形態的比例，這款Calibur將舊作一些拉伸關節改成摺疊，包括了背甲以及雙腿。摺疊結構不是問題，最致命是鬆！非常的鬆，影響雙腳的穩定性不再講，只要提起Calibur就會令這個摺疊關節重新展開，變成長腿叔叔。不管是否系列特色，在這裡關節用上合金件毫無意義，而且與大腿相連處的活動範圍低得可憐，要擺出大動作只能作弊展開摺疊位，還要可悲地靠部件間的互阻來令到展開的關節得以固定。
兩支武器都需要拆件、拚件完成。背上的槍管，要先拆走底座，再與左腳的槍座組合才算完成。而雙管砲則需要直接拆走拳頭才能駁上。這種又拆又換頗令我費解。
本物曾一度賣過高價，其時還搞得我心癢癢而又卻步。後來未知是否因為這差勁表現回落低位，我趁低吸納，萬幸萬幸。時到今日，無論價錢再幾何，Roadbuster已經正式新生，這款Mugen Calibur也就完成其作為代替品那部分的歷史任務，對於變迷來講已無需再考慮了。
